UNAMA’s mission in Afghanistan has been extended for six months

Security Council extends UN mission in Afghanistan for six months
According to a statement from UNAMA Afghanistan, the council unanimously voted to extend the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
The members of the Council have decided to extend the current UNAMA mission for six months until March 17, 2022, and have requested the Secretariat to prepare a written report by 31 January 2022 outlining “Strategic and Operational Recommendations for the UNAMA Mission Recent political and security issues and social developments in Afghanistan have been suggested.
The council resolution continues to emphasize the importance of establishing an inclusive government, protecting human rights and international law.
