Pentagon officials: The signing of the Doha Agreement was the main reason for the fall of the former Afghan government

Pentagon officials say the signing of the Doha agreement was one of the main reasons for the fall of the former Afghan government and the Taliban’s takeover of the country.
According to the Associated Press, Kenneth McKenzie, the head of the US Central Command, said that the main reason for the collapse of the Afghan government and army is the signing of the Doha agreement, which he said had a devastating effect on the Afghan government and army.
“The signing of the Doha Agreement had a devastating effect on the Afghan government and army, and it had a greater psychological impact than anything else,” he said. “We set a deadline for the final exit, and they found out when all the aid would end.”
He also said that the reduction of US troops in Afghanistan in addition to the signing of the Doha Agreement was another nail in the coffin of the 20-year war effort in Afghanistan.
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin also said that because the Doha agreement called for US troops to end their airstrikes against the Taliban, it imposed restrictions on US forces in Afghanistan.
