Qatar’s Special Representative for Afghanistan: The Taliban should give women the right to work and to girls the right to education

Qatar’s special envoy for Afghanistan has called on the Taliban to give women the right to work and girls the right to education.
Mutlaq Majid al-Qahtani, Qatar’s special envoy to Afghanistan, has called on the Taliban to act as a responsible government, giving women the right to work and girls the right to education.
“We think this (recognizing the Taliban government) is not a priority,” he told a security meeting in the Qatari capital, Doha, today. “What is a priority right now is humanitarian aid, education and safe evacuation.”
He called on the Taliban to move the group towards an inclusive government, adding that the best option now was to work together, cooperate and help more.
The Special Representative of the Qatari Foreign Minister for Afghanistan also referred to the education of girls and said that the ban on girls’ education is not acceptable from the point of view of Islam.
