Pakistan rejects the agreement with US to use its airspace against Afghanistan

Pakistan’s foreign ministry has denied reports that the United States has formalized an agreement on the use of Pakistani airspace for military and intelligence operations in Afghanistan.

A ministry statement quoted a ministry spokesman as saying there was no such agreement.

The ministry spokesman added that Pakistan and the United States have long-standing cooperation in regional security and the fight against terrorism, and that the two sides continue to hold regular consultations.

Meanwhile, the CNN reported that the United States was approaching an agreement with Pakistan that would allow the United States to use Pakistani airspace for military and intelligence operations in Afghanistan.

Pakistan had previously refused to provide a US military base to monitor Afghanistan.

However, there are reports that the United States has requested a military base from Russia and Uzbekistan to monitor Afghanistan, which has been rejected by both countries.
