The possibility of the return of the EU diplomatic mission to Kabul

The British media have reported that the European Union is returning its diplomatic mission to Kabul.

The British Newspaper the Financial Times reports that the European Union will send a diplomatic mission to Kabul in a month to increase contacts with the Taliban.

According to the report, the European Union sent a delegation to Afghanistan last month to review the return of its diplomatic mission.

Last August, a spokesman for the European Commissioner-designate announced that all EU diplomatic staff had left Afghanistan with their families.

However, the Taliban have also welcomed the decision to return the EU diplomatic mission to Afghanistan.

“We welcome this move by the European Union,” Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in an interview with a television station. “This will be to the mutual benefit of the European Union. Both Europe and the Afghans can benefit from this, as it paves the way for diplomatic engagement and co-operation and increases trust.”
