Lavrov: It is important for Moscow to prevent instability in Afghanistan’s neighbors

Russia’s foreign minister says that preventing threats from flowing from Afghanistan to neighboring countries, especially those bordering Russia, is a priority for Moscow.

According to Sputnik, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with a Russian media outlet that it was important for Moscow to prevent the instability of neighboring countries and the entry of terrorist and drug threats from Afghanistan.

“Since we have no borders with our Central Asian allies, there is practically a visa-free regime with all of them. The security of these areas is important to us,” he said, stressing that stability is important in countries, especially in neighboring countries. “It is in the first place.”

However, Lavrov said on the first day of the Moscow summit on Afghanistan that the country was optimistic about the Taliban’s efforts to stabilize Afghanistan.
