The Taliban banned the use of foreign currency in the country

The Taliban have banned the use of foreign currency in Afghanistan and called on all citizens to use Afghan currency in their commercial transactions.

Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid issued a statement on his Twitter page urging people to use Afghan currency in their transactions.

“The economic situation in the country requires that all Afghans use Afghan currency in all their transactions,” the statement said. “The Islamic Emirate calls on all citizens, shopkeepers, businessmen, businessmen and the general public to conduct their transactions in Afghan currency after all this and to refrain from using foreign currencies.”

The statement stressed that the use of foreign currency has a negative impact on the country’s economy, adding that if someone uses foreign currency in their transactions, he will be dealt with legally.

However, after the Taliban took control, the Afghan currency lost its value against foreign currencies, especially the dollar, and now one US dollar is traded in Kabul markets for more than 90 afghanis.
