The United States is deeply concerned about the presence of ISIS and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan

The US Special Representative for Afghanistan has expressed his country’s deep concern over the escalation of ISIL attacks and the presence of al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.
According to Reuters, US Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West told reporters yesterday that he was concerned about the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan and said that the presence of al-Qaeda fighters in the country was worrying and that he had always raised the issue with the Taliban.
“We want the Taliban to succeed in the fight against ISIS, given the terrorist threat in Afghanistan,” he said, stressing that Washington wants the Taliban to win over ISIS in Afghanistan. “I think they are making a lot of efforts against these terrorist organizations.”
He also stressed that the United States is currently preparing for another round of intelligence talks with the Taliban, stating that this round of talks between the US and the Taliban will be held in Doha, Qatar.
“Regarding the reopening of our embassy in Kabul, I must say that we are not taking this step seriously at this time,” the US Special Representative for Afghanistan said.
Thomas Vist, who was appointed US Special Representative for Afghanistan after Zalmai Khalilzad’s resignation, has begun his first trip to Asia and Europe.
