Uzbek President: Afghanistan should not become a home for terrorism

“We are closely monitoring the current difficult situation in Afghanistan” Uzbek President Shukat Mirziyoyev, who spoke at the opening ceremony of the eighth summit of the Turkish Council, was quoted as saying by Anatoly.

“We must have a common and unified approach to dialogue with the new Afghan government,” the Uzbek president said, stressing that Afghanistan should not become a haven for terrorism.

The eighth summit of the Turkish Council focusing on green technologies and smart cities in the digital age was held today on Istanbul’s Democracy and Freedom Island.

ziyoyev called on Turkish leaders to attend next year’s summit in Uzbekistan, saying the renaming of the Turkish Council to the “Organization of Turkish Governments” would provide a strong infrastructure for further development of co-operation between countries.
