The Red Cross pays the salaries of health workers in Afghanistan

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has announced that it will pay the salaries of health workers in Afghanistan directly in agreement with the Taliban without the group’s involvement.
“We agreed with Taliban officials at the Ministry of Public Health that cash would be transferred to hospitals directly by the organization, not by Taliban officials, and we also reached an agreement with aid agencies,” said Peter Maurer, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross. We, as an independent institution, have paid the salaries of the employees. We must not forget that most of the employees in the health sector, the employees in the water and electricity sector, are the same former employees. “Change has come only in leadership, not in people and employees.”
The UN chief also said the organization was helping health institutions in Afghanistan.
“We are working with a number of non-governmental organizations to deliver rescue aid, including health kits for mothers,” said Sima Sami Bahous, UN Executive Director for Women. “We also have service centers, some of which are open and some of which are closed, and we provide services to survivors of violence against women and girls, and we are working to prevent this violence.”
But Taliban officials at the Ministry of Finance have said they will not accept any conditional aid to Afghanistan.
