Imran Khan: Emphasized financial assistance to the people of Afghanistan

In a meeting with members of the US Congress, the Pakistani Prime Minister stressed the urgent need for financial assistance to the Afghan people.
The office of the Prime Minister of Pakistan wrote on its official Twitter page that Prime Minister Imran Khan, in a meeting with members of the US Congress yesterday, stressed the urgent need to help the Afghan people.
“The Prime Minister particularly emphasized the urgent need for financial assistance to the people of Afghanistan as part of efforts to prevent a humanitarian crisis and economic collapse,” the Pakistani prime minister’s office wrote.
Imran Khan also expressed hope that ways and means would be found to address the issue of liquidity and empower banking channels to help Afghanistan cope with the economic burden and urgent challenges.
Earlier, the United Nations warned in a report that the banking system in Afghanistan could collapse due to declining bank reserves and the inability of people to repay their loans.
The United Nations has called for immediate action to protect Afghan banks.
