Talks between the Taliban and the United States will resume next week in Doha

The US State Department has announced that it will resume talks with the Taliban next week in the Qatari capital Doha.

State Department Spokesman Net Price said the United States was scheduled to resume talks with the Taliban in Doha, Qatar, on counterterrorism next week.

“I can confirm that Tom West, the US Special Representative for Afghanistan, will return to Doha next week for a two-week meeting with Taliban leaders,” he said.

According to the State Department spokesman, the talks focused on vital US national interests, including the fight against ISIS and al-Qaeda, humanitarian aid, Afghanistan’s bankrupt economy, and the safe departure of American citizens and Afghans who have worked with the United States for the past 20 years. Will argue.

The Taliban, meanwhile, have said they will work to free Afghanistan’s frozen assets during the Doha talks.
