NATO foreign ministers are meeting on the situation in Afghanistan

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has announced that a meeting will be held by the foreign ministers of the member states on the situation in Afghanistan.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told a news conference in Brussels that a meeting of NATO foreign ministers would be held in Riga, the capital of Latvia, on Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss the situation in Afghanistan.
“The foreign ministers are discussing Afghanistan,” he said. “After the sudden collapse of the Afghan government and armed forces in August, we began a comprehensive assessment of NATO’s role.”
He said the re-emergence of the Taliban over the Afghan people was a tragedy.
