The World Bank is releasing $ 280 million from frozen assets of Afghanistan

Two informed sources told Reuters that the World Bank delegation had agreed to provide $ 280 million of Afghanistan’s funds raised to the World Food Program and UNICEF to address the humanitarian crisis in the country.
The sources said that the 31 donors to the World Bank-run Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund must approve the transfer before it can be made available to the World Food Program and UNICEF. According to these sources, the donors are expected to meet on Friday.
Informed sources have previously told Reuters that the World Bank delegation met informally on Tuesday to discuss the transfer of $ 500 million from the $ 1.5 billion Afghanistan Trust Fund to humanitarian aid agencies.
Three months after the Taliban took control of the country and after the withdrawal of foreign troops, Afghans face a stressful winter economy, food shortages and growing poverty.
And international organizations, also have repeatedly warned of the possibility of a humanitarian catastrophe in Afghanistan.
