The Taliban welcomed the US authorization to send personal remittances to Afghanistan

The Taliban State Department has welcomed the issuance of a new public permit by the US Treasury Department that allows US-based Afghans to legally send money to their families in Afghanistan.
Taliban Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi wrote on Twitter that the US Treasury Department’s licensing of banks was a good step by which Afghans abroad could send money to their families through Western Union, Manigram and many other banking channels.
“We welcome this progress and hope that Afghans will be given access to all parts of the global banking system,” he added.
