US Senator: Pakistan’s double standard is the reason for US defeat in Afghanistan

A US senator says Pakistan’s hypocrisy has led to US defeat in Afghanistan.

Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey has said that Pakistan made a double deal on Afghanistan, which led to the failure of the US mission in Afghanistan.

The US senator made the remarks yesterday at a meeting of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee to nominate ambassadors to Pakistan, India and Germany.

He said that contrary to what Pakistan says, the country sheltered and supported the Taliban, and this support led to the killing of American soldiers.

According to him, the failure of the US mission in Afghanistan happened in a short period of time and part of this failure goes back to years of dual Pakistani conflict.

However, US media have previously cited Pakistan’s double standards as the main reason for the failure of the US mission in Afghanistan.
