Pakistani official: Taliban and Pakistan resolve border issue through dialogue

A senior Pakistani official has said that the Taliban and Pakistan have agreed to resolve the border fence issue through dialogue.

Pakistani Express Tribune quotes a senior Pakistani official as saying that after the recent border tensions between Taliban and Pakistani forces on the border between the two countries, Mullah Yaqub, son of Mullah Omar and head of the Taliban Ministry of Defense, visited the border area.

The Pakistani official, who did not want to be named, said the two sides had agreed not to escalate the situation.

“The Afghans were asked to coordinate the border line before repairing the fence,” the official added.

The tension between the Taliban and Pakistani border forces erupted after the Taliban intelligence chief in Kandahar, in the border region with Pakistan, called on Pakistani border troops to stop trying to fence the border.
