Indian media: Indian aid to Afghanistan has not yet been allowed to cross Pakistan

The Indian Times quoted sources as saying that 50,000 tonnes of Indian auxiliary wheat, which was to be transported to Afghanistan by Afghan trucks via the port of Wagah, had not yet been allowed to cross into Pakistan.

The source told the media yesterday: “Wheat transfer through wagah has not started yet; “Because we are still waiting to hear everything from Pakistan.”

Emphasizing that the Pakistani side’s approach was surprising, the Indian media wrote that even the Taliban had raised the issue of wheat transfer with the Pakistani government due to the urgent need for food in Afghanistan’s critical situation.

Due to the lack of direct flights between Afghanistan and India, Indian auxiliary wheat is to be transported to Afghanistan through Pakistan.

But the Pakistani side has set conditions for transporting wheat across the land border to Afghanistan. Pakistan has told India that the 50,000 tonnes of wheat will be transported in December using Pakistani trucks.
