A mullah in Helmand was assassinated by gunmen

Unidentified gunmen assassinated a mosque imam in Helmand province.

Bakhtar news agency reported that the imam of the mosque was killed in Nawa district of the province.

Local Taliban officials in Helmand province say efforts have been launched to arrest the perpetrators.

After the Taliban came to power, although the group has promised to prevent targeted killings in the country, civilians and, in some cases, former government soldiers, are still being killed as a result.
