The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a statement expressing its condolences to the families of the earthquake victims in Afghanistan’s Badghis province.

“We received the news of the deaths and injuries of many people during the earthquake in Badghis province of Afghanistan and the destruction of many houses in this area with great regret and emotion,” the statement said.

“We offer our condolences to the families of the victims and to the friendly and brotherly people of Afghanistan, and wish the injured a speedy recovery,” the ministry added. “Turkey is always ready to provide any kind of humanitarian assistance to this country.”

Two earthquakes shook Badghis province yesterday, destroying nearly a thousand houses.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said 26 people had been killed and four others injured in the incident.
