A former government police chief was assassinated in Herat

Local Taliban officials in Ghor province report the assassination of former police chief of the Tiwara district of the province.

Abdul Wahid Hamas, spokesman for the Taliban governor in Ghor, said Habibaullah Malekzadeh, a former police chief in the Tiwara district of the province, had been assassinated by unknown individuals.

He added that the commander had been assassinated in front of his house in Herat province, but that Taliban officials in Herat had not yet commented.

Habibaullah Malekzadeh, a former police chief in Tiwara Ghor district, is said to have lived in Herat province after the Taliban took control.
