Norwegian Foreign Minister: It is too early to recognize the Taliban government

The Norwegian foreign minister says that the purpose of inviting the Taliban to visit the country does not mean recognizing their regime.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Aniken Hewittfeld has said the Taliban may use their trip to Norway for propaganda purposes, but that does not mean recognizing the Taliban regime.
“There is a danger that the Taliban will try to use the meeting for propaganda purposes, but the international community agrees that it is too early to formally recognize the Taliban interim government in Afghanistan,” he said.
“Meetings with Norway’s allies and allies have been discussed,” he added. “They did not speak out against it, and we agree that this did not and did not include steps for recognition.”
The Norwegian Foreign Minister also stressed that the Taliban must take convincing steps to prevent Afghanistan from becoming a hotbed of international terrorism again. “Show girls and women equal opportunities to study and work.”
It is worth mentioning that a delegation of the Taliban visited Oslo, the capital of Norway, on January 23.
The Taliban delegation spoke with Norwegian diplomats, Afghan politicians and civil society activists.
