Sources: The Taliban governor for Badakhshan has been missing for a month now

Local sources in Badakhshan say that the Taliban governor has been absent from office for a month.

According to sources in Badakhshan, Maulvi Abdul Ghani Fayeq, the Taliban governor for the province, has not been in office for a month, but Moazuddin Ahmadi, the Taliban’s director of information and culture, said the governor is in Kabul to talk to government officials to resolve the people’s problems.

Mr. Ahmadi added that the governor of Badakhshan will return to his post soon.

On the other hand, some sources have said that the governor of Badakhshan has been summoned to Kandahar by the Taliban for various reasons and has not been heard from since.

Meanwhile, the Taliban central government has arrested several local officials over the past month.
