SIGAR: ISIL has continued its attacks in Afghanistan since the Taliban took control

The US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) has said that ISIL attacks on Shiite mosques and Taliban forces in Afghanistan have continued.

The group wrote on its Twitter page today that the ISIS group has carried out most of its attacks around the cities since the Taliban took control.

“In general, security incidents in Afghanistan are lower than in pre-collapse levels of the former Afghan government,” it added.

ISIL, meanwhile, carried out several deadly attacks after the Taliban took control.

The group claimed responsibility for a deadly attack on Kabul airport during a US evacuation operation and several other attacks on Shiite mosques in Kunduz and Kandahar provinces.
