The presidents of Russia and the United States spoke by telephone about the crisis in Ukraine

In a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, US President Joe Biden said he would receive a response from the United States and its allies if Russia continued to strengthen its forces on the Ukrainian border and invade the country.

Stressing that Russia would incur rapid and serious costs if Russia invaded Ukraine, the US president added that Washington was pushing for a diplomatic solution, but was ready for other scenarios with its allies.

However, according to a statement from the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin also said in the phone call: “The deliberate presentation of incorrect information about the occupation of Ukraine is incomprehensible.”

According to the Associated Press, US officials have said that the State Department intends to ask the US Embassy in Ukraine to remove all staff from the country.

But the State Department has not yet commented officially.
