The political leaders of the former Afghan government are seeking to form an anti-Taliban coalition.

A number of political leaders of the former Afghan government are trying to form a larger anti-Taliban coalition, an informed source was quoted as saying by The Independent.

“So far, a number of political leaders, including Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, Salahuddin Rabbani, Atta Mohammad Noor, Mohammad Mohaqiq, Amir Ismail Khan, Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf, Ahmad Massoud, and Younis Qanuni, have agreed to join the coalition,” the source told The Independent. “And talks are underway with a number of other political figures.”

The source stressed that the process will be governed by a council and no one will be the leader in it, adding that the coalition will have specific committees in the field of political, military, and cultural activities, and after announcing its existence, Work begins on activating these committees.

According to the source, talks are underway with a number of women who are prominent in Afghan politics to join the coalition.
