UNICEF: $ 250 million needed to continue supporting teachers in Afghanistan

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says $ 250 million is needed to continue the process of supporting teachers in Afghanistan.
UNICEF said in a statement today that the process of distributing cash donations to teachers has begun and that it has paid $ 100 per teacher in January and February.
“After months of uncertainty and hardship for many teachers, we are pleased to provide emergency support,” said Mohammad Iwia, UNICEF Representative in Afghanistan. “Let us provide teachers from public schools in Afghanistan who have spared no effort to keep their children learning.”
According to the statement, a process of strong oversight of the distribution of aid to teachers in Afghanistan is underway, according to which the process of teachers must be present in schools and their identities must be verified.
