International Rescue Committee: Western policies in Afghanistan have led to famine

The International Rescue Committee says the West has brought famine to Afghanistan by implementing its policies.

“The West has inflicted catastrophic damage on Afghanistan by imposing a famine policy,” David Miliband, chief executive of the International Rescue Committee, was quoted as saying by the Guardian.

He added that the situation in Afghanistan should not have been allowed to deteriorate so quickly.

The Executive Director of the International Rescue Committee also stressed that the needs of the Afghan people must be met through humanitarian aid, warning that the crisis in Afghanistan is so deep that the UN request for $ 4 billion this year to help the country is likely this year. The future will increase to $ 10 billion.

The World Bank warned yesterday that about 95 percent of Afghans do not have enough food to eat.
