The presence of Russian national teams in the FIFA and UEFA federations has been suspended

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and the Champions League and UEFA have announced in a joint statement that the presence of Russian clubs and national teams in the federations has been suspended.

In this joint statement, the decision was taken by FIFA and UEFA at the invitation of the International Olympic Committee as part of additional measures due to Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine.

The joint statement also expressed hope that the current situation in Ukraine would improve as soon as possible and that football would once again be a tool for the unity and peace of the people.

It has been about six days since Moscow launched its military offensive against Ukraine, and some Ukrainian sources have said that the situation in that country is deteriorating day by day.
