Chinese Foreign Minister arrives in Kabul to meet with Taliban

The Chinese Foreign Minister arrived in Kabul to meet with Taliban officials after attending an OIC summit in Islamabad.
Bilal Karimi, the Taliban’s deputy spokesman, tweeted that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had met with the group’s acting foreign minister, Amir Khan Mottaqi, to discuss important issues.
This is the first visit by a senior Chinese official to Afghanistan since the Taliban came to power.
The Chinese Foreign Minister had previously been in Pakistan for three days and had been a special guest at the OIC Foreign Ministers’ Summit.
He said at the opening of the OIC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Islamabad that his country supports the people of Afghanistan in forming a comprehensive government in that country.
