Hekmatyar: The only solution to Afghanistan’s problems is to hold elections

The leader of the Islamic Party of Afghanistan says holding elections is the only solution to Afghanistan’s problems.

In an interview with Ariana News, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the leader of the Islamic Party of Afghanistan, stressed that the formation of a coalition government would exacerbate the crisis in Afghanistan, saying that the only solution to Afghanistan’s problems was to hold elections.

He described the current situation in Afghanistan as favorable for holding elections, adding that the only way to ensure stability in the country is to establish a one-handed government headed by an elected president.

He said that coalition governments could not run a country like Afghanistan, they were not successful anywhere and as experience has shown, such governments were also not successful in Afghanistan.
