Donors have pledged more than $ 2 million to Afghanistan by 2022

Donor countries have pledged $ 2.4 billion in humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan by 2022.
At a virtual conference on aid to Afghanistan hosted by the United Nations, Britain, Germany and Qatar in Geneva on Thursday, donor countries pledged to send 2.4 million worth of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan by 2022.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told the meeting that the deadly situation in Afghanistan must be stopped.
He strongly criticized the Taliban for closing girls’ secondary schools, but said donor countries should not leave Afghans in this situation, saying that about 95% of Afghans do not have enough food and 9 million are at risk of starvation.
The United Nations has previously called for $ 4.4 billion in aid to Afghanistan, the largest aid operation in the country’s history.
