Taliban: Female professors are not allowed to participate in men’s programs

The Ministry of Higher Education of the interim Taliban government has stated that female professors are not allowed to attend men’s scientific conferences.

A letter sent by the Taliban Ministry of Higher Education to all public and private universities stated that female professors were not allowed to attend men’s scientific conferences.

In this letter, while emphasizing that female professors, students and graduates do not have the right to participate in men’s programs, all universities are instructed to hold programs for men and women separately, and no man has the right to participate in women’s programs.

According to the letter, female students’ graduation ceremonies will continue to be held in accordance with the Islamic hijab, and no female student has the right to post a photo or video of the ceremony on social media.

The letter further instructs private universities that students do not have the right to hold graduation ceremonies without the coordination of the relevant university.
