UNAMA called for the return of all Afghan girls to school

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan has called for immediate action to return all Afghan girls to school.

UNAMA said in a statement that Dibora Lines, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, had met with Mullah Khairullah Khairkhah, acting head of the Taliban Ministry of Information and Culture in Kabul.

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan, during the meeting, expressed concern about threats and restrictions against the media and called on the Taliban Ministry of Information and Culture to hold a constructive interview with reporters.

He also called for immediate action to return all girls to school.

However, restrictions on the media have increased since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, and most media outlets in Afghanistan have been shut down.
