Karzai met with the Iranian ambassador in Kabul

Following the release of videos of the persecution of Afghans in Iran, former Afghan President Hamid Karzai met with Bahadur Aminian, Iran’s ambassador to Kabul.

In this meeting, the long-standing and good relations between the two countries, the current situation in the region and the pictures and news published about the persecution of Afghans in Iran in the mass media in recent days, were discussed and exchanged views.

“The people of Iran and Afghanistan have long-standing historical, religious and cultural ties, and both nations must be vigilant and protected by the spirit of brotherhood and neighborliness,” Karzai said during the meeting.

During the meeting, the Iranian ambassador in Kabul also called the images published on social media about the mistreatment of Afghans in Iran unrealistic.

In the last few days, however, videos of the mistreatment of Afghan immigrants in Iran have been circulating on social media and have provoked many reactions.
