The Iranian embassy in Kabul and the country’s consulate in Herat shutted down

After citizens protested in front of the Iranian embassy in Kabul and the Iranian consulate in Herat in response to what is being called the mistreatment of Afghan immigrants in Iran, a number of Iranian embassy clients say the embassy has been shutted down for four days.

However, it is said that the Iranian consulate in Herat has also been closed, but the Iranian embassy officials have not officially said anything about it.

In the protests that took place yesterday in front of the Iranian embassy in Kabul and the Iranian consulate in Herat, the protesters threw stones at the Iranian consulate building in Herat and set fire to its entrance gate.

Saeed Khatibzadeh; Reacting to the protests, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the protection of diplomatic facilities was the definitive responsibility of Afghanistan’s governing body.

He added: “The complete security of the embassies and missions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Herat and other cities of Afghanistan must be fully provided and the necessary guarantees must be provided for the safe operation of these missions.”

A spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in response to videos released of the persecution of Afghan refugees in Iran: “Unfortunately, some videos and comments are being published with the aim of Iran or Afghanistan – fear, which aims to provoke the emotions of the people of the two countries and demands more vigilance of the people and officials of the two countries.”
