UNICEF: More than 50 children have lost their lives in Afghanistan over the past week

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) regional director says more than 50 boys and girls have lost their lives in Afghanistan in the past week.
More than 50 girls and boys have died in Afghanistan in just one week in a single week, and the number is expected to rise further due to the dire condition of some of the injured, said George Laria Idaji, UNICEF Regional Director.
The UNICEF Regional Director stressed that violence against children in all cases must end now, adding that UNICEF extends its heartfelt condolences to all the families whose lives have been devastated by the attacks.
Referring to the explosion inside a mosque in Kunduz province on Friday, he said that at least four children had lost their lives and many others had received horrific wounds.
It is noteworthy that the mentioned statistics have been recorded from several explosions that took place in Kabul, Balkh and Kunduz provinces during the past week.
