The United States called on the Islamic world to defend the rights of Afghan women and girls

The US Special Envoy for Afghanistan’s meeting with a number of ambassadors from Islamic countries has called on the Islamic world to defend the rights of Afghan women and girls.
The US Special Representative for Afghanistan, Reina Amiri, tweeted that the Taliban’s policies of depriving girls and women of education and employment were not seen in any Muslim-majority country.
In another tweet, Ms. Amiri also announced her meeting with US Nordic partners, which include Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Denmark, and said that the meeting also discussed challenges in Afghanistan, including a ban on girls returning to schools and attacks against the Hazaras.
According to him, in consultation with US partners, the importance of pressuring the Taliban to reopen schools and support all Afghan citizens, especially ethnic and religious minorities, was agreed upon.
After the Taliban took over, all girls ‘and boys’ schools in Afghanistan were closed, but after a while, boys ‘schools reopened, but girls’ schools in the country are still closed to students above the sixth grade.
