Former CIA Director: We already feared that the Taliban would not be able to provide security in Afghanistan

The former head of US intelligence (CIA) has said that it was already predicted that the Taliban would not be able to establish security in Afghanistan.

In an interview, David Petraeus, a retired military and former CIA director, expressed concern about the recent violence in Afghanistan, saying that the reason for the recent insecurity in Afghanistan was the release of thousands of Taliban prisoners from Afghan prisons.

“Remember that we already feared that with the Taliban in power, they would not be able to secure all of Afghanistan,” he said. Recent violence and the unification of various groups have created security problems for the Taliban.

The former US intelligence chief also said in an interview that US equipment left behind in Afghanistan was a matter of concern.

It is noteworthy that after the withdrawal of Afghanistan, the United States left seven billion dollars’ worth of military equipment in the country.

The Pentagon said the equipment includes aircraft, ground-to-ground ammunition, military vehicles, weapons and communications equipment.
