A child was rescued from kidnappers in Paktia

The Taliban have released a child in Paktia province, the interior ministry said.

The child was rescued from kidnappers following a police reconnaissance operation in the city of Sherna, the capital of Paktika province, the ministry said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Bakhtar state news agency quoted Paktia security chief Mullah Javid Badri as saying that those who had abducted the child had managed to escape.

According to the news agency, Taliban members are trying to arrest the perpetrators of this incident.
