Turkey has repatriated 499 Afghan refugees to Kabul on three charter flights.

According to the Anatolian News Agency, the Turkish General Directorate of Immigration said the Afghan migrants had entered the country illegally.

The agency said that since the beginning of 2022, a total of 35,423 nationals of various countries who had entered Turkey illegally have been repatriated to their home countries, including 19,290 Afghan nationals.

However, after the fall of the previous Afghan government, the number of Afghan refugees traveling to Turkey to reach European countries increased.
