Kabulov: Russia will recognize the Taliban if a comprehensive government is established in Afghanistan
Russia’s special envoy to Afghanistan says his country will recognize the Taliban if a political, inclusive and efficient government is established in Afghanistan.
Russia’s special envoy to Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, made the remarks in an interview with Russian media yesterday.
“The Islamic Emirate is not a threat to Central Asian countries, and this government, unlike all Western countries that have fled Afghanistan, is really fighting with ISIS group which is an enemy not only to Russia but also to other countries” he said in the interview, stressing that Russia would not follow the United States and other countries to recognize the Taliban.
Russia’s special envoy to Afghanistan added that the Taliban understand Russia’s concerns about international terrorism and drug production in Afghanistan.
Kabulov also said in an interview that the acting head of the Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Trade might visit Russia.
However, since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, the government of this group has not been recognized by any country.
