Dmitry Peskov: So far there has been no talk of recognizing the Taliban

A spokesman for the Russian president said there was no talk of Russia recognizing the Taliban.

“There is no talk of Moscow recognizing Afghan officials, there are still a lot of questions,” Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian president, told a news conference.

He added: “There has been no talk about this so far.” We have talked about this many times. There are many humanitarian problems that force many countries to make special calls.

Meanwhile, Russia’s special envoy to Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, told a Russian media outlet yesterday that his country would recognize the Taliban if a political, inclusive and efficient government was established in Afghanistan.

Russia’s special envoy to Afghanistan added that the Taliban understands Russia’s concerns about international terrorism and drug production in Afghanistan.
