ISIL claimed responsibility for an attack on a Sikh shrine in Kabul
The Islamic State (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Sikh shrine in Kabul in a statement.
In a statement, the group claimed responsibility for the attack, posting images of the attack.
In the statement, the group named the attacker as Abu Muhammad al-Tajik.
The attack on the Sikh shrine in the Bagh area above Kabul began yesterday morning, sparking clashes and ending around noon.
The Taliban’s interior ministry said one Sikh citizen and one member of the group were killed and seven others were wounded in the attack.
The incident provoked reactions, and hours after the attack, the Indian Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning it and saying that India was closely monitoring the incident.
The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) also condemned the attack in a statement issued yesterday, calling for an immediate end to the attacks on civilians.
