Patrishov announced the US effort to establish a military base on the border of Afghanistan

Russia’s national security adviser says that the United States is trying to reach an agreement with Tajikistan to establish a military base on the Afghan border.

According to Sputnik, Russian National Security Adviser Nikolai Patrishov said that Russia considers the US-led “Regional Cooperation 2022” military exercise in Tajikistan as a continuation of Washington’s efforts to create an apparently temporary military infrastructure in Central Asia.

He added: Washington is still not stopping its efforts to reach an agreement with Afghanistan’s neighboring countries on creating, as it is said, a temporary infrastructure to carry out anti-terrorist operations. That’s why we’re reviewing the “Regional Cooperation-2022” exercise, which began on August 10, under the command of the United States and with the participation of soldiers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia and Pakistan.

A few weeks ago, Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of al-Qaeda was killed as a result of an American drone attack in Kabul, but it is not yet known which country’s airspace this attack was organized from.
