Faiq: Afghanistan’s frozen assets will not be given to the victims of September 11 attacks

The representative of Afghanistan in the United Nations says that the request to pay compensation from the frozen assets of Afghanistan to the families of the victims of the September 11 attacks has been rejected.

Nasir Ahmed Faiq, Afghanistan’s representative to the United Nations, wrote in a tweet that the New York court today rejected the request to pay compensation from the frozen funds of the Central Bank of Afghanistan to the families of the victims of September 11.

He added: “It is hoped that the frozen funds of Afghanistan will be released as soon as possible and it will be used for the development and assistance of the needy people of Afghanistan based on a transparent and monitoring system.”

Earlier, US President Joe Biden allocated part of the frozen assets of Afghanistan to the families of the victims of the September 11 attacks, which caused strong reactions from the Afghan people.
