Thomas Nicholson: 1.3 million Afghans have migrated to other countries in the past year

Thomas Nicholson, the EU’s special representative for Afghanistan, said that more than one million Afghan citizens have migrated to neighboring countries in the past year.

The European Union’s special representative for Afghanistan made these statements in the European Parliament the other day and added: “From August 2021 to September 2022, 1.3 million new refugees from Afghanistan have been reported to have arrived in neighboring countries, including one million to Iran. And 250,000 of them have gone to Pakistan.”

It is worth mentioning that after the fall of the previous government of Afghanistan and the rise of the Taliban in this country, the migration of Afghans to neighboring countries has increased.

According to reports, currently the majority of Afghans who have migrated to neighboring countries are in a state of destitution.
