The United States called the Taliban’s action to stop Radio Azadi broadcasts repressive

The US State Department has condemned the Taliban in response to the suspension of Radio Azadi broadcasts on Moj FM in Afghanistan.
State Department Spokesperson Net Price said in a tweet that the United States supports the right to access independent media around the world and that the Taliban’s suspension of Voice of America and Radio Azadi broadcasts adds a new item to the list of repressive measures.
He further called this action of the Taliban repressive and added that the people of Afghanistan have the right to access independent news.
Recently, Abdulhaq Hammad, the head of broadcasting supervision of the Ministry of Information and Culture of the caretaker government of the Taliban, announced the suspension of Radio Azadi broadcasts on Moj FM in 13 major cities of Afghanistan.
He stated that the reason for the lateness of this radio’s broadcasts was non-observance of journalistic principles and one-sided positions.
