Iran regretted the Taliban’s decision to ban girls’ education

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its regret in response to the Taliban’s decision to close universities to girls and women in Afghanistan.
Nasser Kanani, the spokesperson of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement that his country hopes that the caretaker government of the Taliban will provide education for female students in Afghanistan at all levels of education and abandon its recent decision to close universities to girls.
He added that by equalizing education for women and girls, they can play a more effective role in the development and prosperity of Afghanistan while benefiting from this right.
The Ministry of Higher Education of the Taliban recently issued an order to suspend the education of all girls and women in private and public universities in Afghanistan.
Nada Mohammad Nadim, head of the ministry, in an interview with National TV, said the reason for this action is the existence of women’s dormitories, their coming from one province to another province without Muharram, students not observing the hijab, and the continuation of boys and girls being together in the same class.
