The International Rescue Committee stopped its activities in Afghanistan

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) has announced that because according to the latest order of the Taliban, foreign institutions cannot hire female employees, this institution will stop its activities in Afghanistan.

Emphasizing that it is disappointed with the Taliban’s latest decree banning women from working in non-governmental organizations in Afghanistan, this institution said in a statement, “If we do not allow the employment of women, we cannot reach the needy. Therefore, currently We will stop our services in Afghanistan.”

The International Rescue Committee added that the latest Taliban decree banning Afghan women from working in national and international non-governmental organizations, after previous decrees banning women from attending universities, professional training and private institutions, will have lifelong effects on the present and future of Afghanistan.

According to this institution, the exclusion of women from providing humanitarian services will have disastrous consequences for the people of Afghanistan, because the services of most foreign institutions depend on female workers.

The International Rescue Committee asked the Taliban to consider the severe humanitarian consequences of this latest decision.

It should be mentioned that the Taliban’s recent decision to suspend the education of girls in universities and ban women from working in domestic and foreign institutions in Afghanistan has brought domestic and international reactions.
